After sitting in on a few mock classes and speaking to the professors, I knew that University of San Francisco was where I wanted to spend my next four years studying. They even had therapy dogs, which apparently they bring out during finals week - so cool.
And everyone I encountered was extremely knowledgable and supper friendly. The walkways were filled with clubs to join and prizes to win. There were tours of all the buildings by students who actually live in the dorms. The food and opportunities to meet other students were fantastic. The students, staff, tours, mock classes, clubs - everything was amazing and informative. The University of San Francisco pulled out all the stops. Being able to pull cells apart level by level is truly a hands on experience that can not be replaced. So far my professors have been great and the technology at the school is truly unbeatable. We, as students, have access to our Student Service Officer (who is by our side the ENTIRE length of the program), a Career Services Officer, ample tutoring (both peer and professor sessions), access to volunteer programs, an on campus library with access to our physical textbooks, and an incredible online library with lots of research journals/articles. I am loving my time here at Stanbridge! The classes are fast paced and rigorous no doubt but you have all of the resources you need (and them some) to be successful. There have been advances in supporting our students of color, however they are fairly new so there is little expectations on the amount of support they may provide. The demographic population is also a concern as it is a predominantly white institution which can correlate to struggles for students of color. There are additional concerns with the quality of hygiene here as certain public utilities are not the best to gain access of. There is an emphasis to put yourself out there, however if communicating is not your strength, do not worry! There are plenty of events that aid students in beginning the path towards networking such as events for introverted students. You are given an active role in making connections as well as forming new career opportunities during and after your attendance here. Graduate Student: What I found while in attendance here in USC is that there are a plethora of resources available to the students given at every opportunity available.
